across

Correct English pronunciation is notorious for its frequent omission of both vowels and consonants, as in ought and would. But the language is rarely so wild as to create consonants where none exists. One example of this ugly trend pronounces the word across as though it ended in the letter t, a malpractice to be killed by any means necessary.
